SocialEngine 4 powers on – download a free trial

This July has seen the long awaited Production release of SocialEngine version 4 and the v4 versions of the official plugins. The SocialEngine team worked on SE4 for over a year to completely redesign the platform from scratch. SocialEngine4 is built on the popular (and open source) Zend Framework to make customizations and further development straightforward.
You can download your Free Trial copy from socialengine.net/free-trial
The trial contains SocialEngine v4 as well as all of Webligo’s v4 plugins.
To get all the same features when you buy, you’ll have to purchase the plugins you want to use. The trial expires after 30 days and once it’s expired, the site won’t work.
The trial’s PHP source code is encrypted. The full version is NOT.
Even after the Trial expires your database will stay intact, so you can use all your member data with the full version after you purchase it, no need to start over. That’s user friendly 
The SE3 to SE4 upgrade package is not yet available but is expected within a week or so.
Version 4.0.1, with further tweaks and bug fixes is coming very soon.
Several Third Party Developers have already begun releasing their Plugins and Templates for SocialEngine v4, and others are hard at work upgrading their v3 plugins to v4.

SocialEngine 4 Release Candidate 1 available now

No more Betas. SocialEngine 4 release candidate (RC1) has been posted and is available for download from your SocialEngine.net client area. Webligo advise that “This latest release includes many important features and bug fixes so we highly recommend installing or upgrading. We’ve been working hard on the finishing touches of SocialEngine 4 and we hope to have the final release ready in the next couple weeks!”

Last week there was a definite party atmosphere on the SocialEngine V4 Preview with the release of the long awaited V4 Music Plugin. Music now has some excellent new features like playlists, and being able to add songs from other members collections to your playlists. Music Player directly in the activity feed is very nice too
Music was the last plugin to be released and by all accounts the team at Webligo are now working feverishly on completing the v4 Admin Panel. Comments posted on the SE4 Preview have revealed that the Language for v4 will be file-based .. not database-based as was the case in V3, and this is welcome news for many.
Excitement continues to build, with screenshots of the new Admin Panel expected shortly and the much anticipated SE4 Beta download is rumored to be available to SE clients within a month or so !

SocialEngine V4 Chat Plugin arrives on SE4 Preview !!

The much anticipated SE4 Chat Plugin is now previewing on SocialEngine.net’s V4 Preview site, and has received a lot of positive feedback. Also lately released to Preview are the Forum and Classifieds Plugins. The SE4 Preview is providing the opportunity for existing SE clients to be involved in fine-tuning and bug-testing SocialEngine V4 prior to release, and has been an excellent experience for all concerned

SocialEngine users will be added to the WordPress database and they’ll have their own WP dashboards… They can change their usernames/emails from inside SocialEngine and also from inside their WordPress dashboards, in which case, the SocialEngine database will be updated. The WordPress database will be updated too if they change their data (username, password, email also) from inside SocialEngine. When someone posts a comment, or a post, or a new page on the WordPress blog, a new action will be published on the SocialEngine site…

SocialEngine V4 Preview for SE Clients

January was a busy month at SocialEngine.net with Webligo’s SE4 Preview in full swing. V4 versions of Albums, Blogs and Polls were eagerly tested.
SE Clients have the opportunity to try out SocialEngine V4 and work with Webligo to fully bug test this latest SocialEngine version before the downloadable version is released.
February saw the addition of the Videos, Groups and Events plugins and plenty of cool new features for handling Links and Sharing.
Four more plugins to go! Looking forward to seeing Music, Forum, Classifieds and Chat!
